A distinctive fanfare for a divided wind ensemble.
Description
Description
Instrumentation: wind ensemble split into choirs
duration: 7:00
Commissioned by The Concordia College Band, under the direction of Dr. Peter J. Haberman. Performed by The Concordia College Band, under the direction of Dr. Peter J. Haberman, February 2017.
This piece will work beautifully in large spaces where you have room to move the wind ensemble into larger sections with space in between. The piece is full of call and response between two choirs on either side, with a small center section that glues the ensemble together. This piece also includes a prominent harp part.
Composer’s Note
“Gloria” was originally composed for double mixed choir, as a movement in my choral oratorio amass. This arrangement for band carries with it the same spirit, dividing the wind ensemble into separate choirs, with a middle section that glues the ensemble together. The harp is a prominent part to be featured in this arrangement. If the stage allows you to elevate the harpist, it is recommended. You may also space the choirs apart at a greater distance to amplify the call and response effects.
