Peter and I started collaborating without any particular project in mind, but just to explore what we could create together. This led to some really interesting songs that blurred the lines between concert and pop music. Our work The Stars Are Apple Clusters leaned more towards experimental pop, while Bloom and Bones fit more squarely into the pop category. We next collaborated on a large-form experimental work for choir and electronics called Hummingbird, which remains to be one of the most fascinating concert experiences I’ve ever had. It was commissioned and premiered by the North Dakota State University Concert Choir under the direction of Dr. Jo Ann Miller, and I had never seen an audience leap to their feet in the middle of a performance. It was incredible and the students loved it.
Peter and I performed together for several years, and made several more collaborative pieces. A few years later we collaborated on a song called “Beyond Reach” inspired by school shootings.
Peter now lives in L.A.
